Santa Cruz Skates a Boat

Big skate companies will often go the extra mile to find new eye-popping spots for their teams to skate. It’s about getting noticed, good notoriety can pay out big dividends especially in the age of Instagram and click bait were only the loudest survive.

Santa Cruz Skateboards have been around since early 70s and have seen it all when it comes to the skateboarding industry- from back when dudes in short shorts were doing handstands to the bowl ripping we see today.

Santa Cruz is cemented in skateboarding history, and even though they’re old school, they still manage to bring something fresh and exciting to the table. What are they doing that no else has done? They had their team skate a boat (straight up) – and not just any boat: the Boardr boat.

The bright red colored boat turns out to be surprisingly smooth for the Santa Cruz team; including Erick Winkowski, Jake Wooten, and Blake Johnson. You can see Wooten demolish the pool from 1:40 to 2:12 – all I’ll say is, he gets creative. It’s the first time that this boat is entering our radar, but we are sure someone will try topping this – my money’s on a train…or plane.
